5th place – No Motto – 4 – Rania Ghosn & El Hadi Jazairy

Because it’s crisis, a phone recording.

5th place – Manifesto – ANAN (=) Anthony and Anouck

5th – Urban Plant – DDS architecture office / Ellen de Poorter

On the 5th place we find this proposal for -yet again- urban farming. This proposal was to the point, used no nonsense methods and explained many of their designsteps. It left us with the least questions. We did feel that the resulting building doesn’t look new. A missed chance.

6th – Microlivestock – Nathan Hodges

On the 6th place we find Nathan Hodges who discovered a whole new species of livestock : The snail. He designed a deceptively simple cart that integrates the livestock housing, the growing and preparation – This time not in a tower of 300 meters high (see MVDRV pig farms) – but in a handcart. Congratulations. [...]

7th – delici[h]ous[e] – Virginia Ellyn Melnyk

On the 7th place we find the most realistic proposal for urban farming. The combination of living and fruit orchards looks very good. With the use of the netting no fruit falls on the ground and is lost. Eventually the fruit will fall in the pools. Presentation wise the proposal is clear, but we would [...]

10th – Not Dogs – Christopher George, Molly Miller, Corkum Steffel, Laura WalesErica Sillin, Rachael Baldwin

So we are coming to the top 10!. On the 10th place we have Not Dogs. We found it is the most complete proposal for a restaurant chain. Next to a complete shop they also offer packaging. We loved the name, the presentation, the brand and the shop.

smk 036 – Khaled Malas

Okay what to say about this submission? Well we found it profoundly poetic. We had quite a long discussion on it, deciding to drop it since we could’n really find a solution / project in the A3. But I must say we loved it. The title, the quotes, the Colosseum on an aircraft carrier, the [...]

OAT – Lara Shihab-Eldin and Janine Soper

Lara and Janine managed to come up with two new recipes involving oatmeal. We didn’t dare to try them yet, but we will soon. We loved the presentation, simple, easy and with humor. Did you go out in the streets to photograph the scenes yourself?

CIFCSSKN97 – Casey Franklin & Isida Kapruzi

A very ‘ fresh’ proposal. Ingredients for your sandwich will be picked in the garden on the roof. Also the presentation is done very nice. i am particularly partial to the little guy on the bottom right with the huge sandwich. It looks good. But as with other pick your own/ grow your own sandwich [...]

6221531030 – Chao-Jung Chen

We liked this urban farming proposal for the matter of fact way of looking for solutions for a world wide shortage in food. Growing stuff indoors is one of the solutions. Chao-Jung Chen sketches a interesting visual and architectural approach to urban farming. Esspecially the bottom pictures look enticing.
